Welcome to the Cutforth Family Blog. This blog provides insight into the lives of Dave, Shawnna and Kaitlyn Cutforth. Of course, since Kaitlyn is the newest (and cutest) member of our family, most of the focus is on her development and the fun things we do as parents.

Easter 2009

Kaitlyn posing as a movie star while eating

For Kaitlyn, Easter began with an early morning Easter egg hunt at about 6:15am. The Easter Bunny had filled the eggs with marshmallows, which was a huge hit. After finding 8 eggs (and eating 8 marshmallows), we decided to call an end to the marshmallow feast and eat some pancakes instead. Then, Kaitlyn opened up her gift which was a pop-up tent and immediately jumped in and started to play.

Spending the day with us was Grandma & Grandpa Pride, Grandma Cutforth, Uncle Dan, Aunt Kelley and Cousin Alyssa. We hung out, ate lunch and were entertained by the kids at play. Alyssa (8 mos.) spent a lot of time on the floor knocking over stacked blocks, chewing on toys and trying to crawl, but not going very far. Kaitlyn helped Mommy with the cooking, played peek-a-boo in her tent, tried to convince anyone that would listen that she deserved another cookie, posed for pictures and danced to the music on Grandpa's iTouch among other things. By the end of the day, she was very tired and called it a night after everyone went home and she took a bath. We weren't far behind.

Kaitlyn's First Potty in the Toilet

Kaitlyn is now 21 months old and hit a major milestone today; she went potty in the toilet for the first time! Her "firsts" are getting few and far between, but this is a big one. Here's the email we received from Michelle (babysitter) today:

So, your little daughter peed twice on the potty today. I went to change her diaper and she was not very wet and I asked do you have to pee? She pointed towards the bathroom and said "potty". I figured I would give it a shot. I sat her on the potty and after a few seconds...she peed! She peed a little, stopped, then a little more and then a little more. It was cute! Then we flushed and washed her hands. I gave her a miniature marshmallow as a reward.

After lunch, before nap, her diaper was a little wet but, I sat her on the potty anyhow. Then she peed! She was so excited! And very excited to get another little marshmallow! It was cute!
We went out to dinner with some friends tonight and Kaitlyn used the potty there, too. It's a good day!

A Visit with the Stanley Cup

Due to Cisco's partnership with the NHL, the Stanley Cup was on display today at Cisco. Of course, I had to stop by to take a few pictures with the greatest trophy in sports. I met up with Shawnna and Kelley (sister-in-law) and we were allowed to touch it, kiss it, hug it, but not pick it up; we'll save that for the Sharks in a couple of months. The guy in the picture with me below is Mike Bolt, the "Keeper of the Cup."

Under the Weather

On Friday, Kaitlyn started getting a stuffy and runny nose at daycare. Friday night was a little rough, but Benedryl and Tylenol helped her (and us) get though the night OK. Saturday was spent following her around with tissue to wipe her nose every 2 minutes, but that didn't seem to slow her down too much. Despite being sick, she was still in a good mood and had plenty of energy. The only thing that seemed to suffer was her appetite. After a good night sleep Saturday night, Kaitlyn woke up feeling and looking much better. It seems she has weathered the storm and should be back to normal shortly. She still hasn't wanted to eat much, but I don't think she's going to starve anytime soon.

Below are some pictures from last weekend. We went to a 3rd birthday party for our friend's (and babysitter) son, Max. Kaitlyn had a lot of fun playing on the swing set, in the sand box and getting wet in the drink bucket.
